About us
Professor Shuxun Sang began to independently recruit master students in 1999. Four years later, he was permitted to independently recruit doctor students. On this basis, Prof. Sang and his students constituted the prototype of our group at the beginning of 21 century. After 20 years of ups and downs, our team has a significant development. At the beginning, some old colleagues joined us and made a contribution on the team building. Later, some graduates, whose roles changed from student to colleague, joined our team and continued their research in various universities. After that, young teachers and postdoctoral fellows who are not under the guidance of our team joined us and our previous young teachers had also independently recruited and advised graduate students at recent years. These team growths have achieved an outstanding leap from a small group with the teacher-student relationship and common academic interests to a like-minded academic community. Our team’s missions and concepts are concentrated academic, cultivating talents, pursuing excellence, serving the community, being open and inclusive, achieving self-fulfillment and common development.
The research field of our team is also evolving and expanding. Our research fields begin with coal-bearing sedimentology, coal geochemistry and coal geology. The focus then shifts toward coalbed methane geology and its related development geology and engineering. In recent years, we developed coal-bearing sequence geology and development technology, covering high-efficiency prospect and exploitation of unconventional gas, CO2 geological storage and greenhouse gas emission reduction in coal mine, high-efficiency prospect and exploitation of geothermal resources, environmental mining protection and restoration. The faculties and graduate students in our group include 7 professors (Dr.), wherein 4 doctoral supervisors, 8 associate professors or researchers (Dr.), 2 lectures (Dr.), 1 postdoctor, 15 doctoral students and 25 master students. Therein, 6 of them has received the provincial and ministerial talent programs and awards.
Our team has been in charge of more than 20 national projects, including the projects funded by National Natural Science Foundation (National Major Project for Scientific Instruments R&D, Key project, general project), Subject of National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program), Independent Subject of National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 Program), Subject of National Oil and Gas Development Specialized Project. We have also been in charge of over 100 specialized projects funded by provincial and ministerial-level departments and petroleum-related companies. We have obtained more than 10 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards. Five international patents are under review, more than 30 national patents have been authorized and nearly 10 Chinese software copyrights have been granted. We have more than 300 publications and herein the number of the high-quality publication is closed to 100.
We will continue to innovate and strive to move forward, and hope to make new breakthroughs in project application, scientific research achievements and talent training.
