Dr. Sevket Durucan (Imperial College,UK) and Dr. Jingsheng Ma (Heriot-Watt University, UK) were invited by our group to visit No.1 Exploration Bureau of China National Administration of Coal Geology, Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Coal Geology, China United Coalbed Methane Co., Ltd and Shanxi CBM Branch, Huabei Oilfield company of PetroChina and investigate Geothermal development and utilization project site, the Coal Museum of China, Coal measure gas exploration and development lab and CO2 geological storage and coalbed methane enhanced development pilot project site. Dr. Durucan made a presentation on a very new geothermal project he started in Sep. 2019, and the talk was titled “CO2 storage, use and performance monitoring in deep geothermal projects in Europe”. Our group members Prof. Sang, Dr. Zhou and Dr. Ashutosh Tripathy and the two cooperated professors also have a comprehensive discussion with the relevant colleagues on geothermal developments and CO2-ECBM recovery projects.
